Keyword Density

Another important concept is keyword density. When someone searches for a keyword phrase the SE's will look at all pages that contain the keyword phrase and check the density which is the ratio of the search phrase to the total number of words in the page.

Lets say you done a search for resume paper and the SE found a page that had 400 words and had the phrase resume paper on the page 10 times -- thats a total of 20 words. Because 20 is 5% of 400 the keyword density is 5 percent.

Keyword density is very important and should not be abused or over done by putting to many of the same keyword in your content. If the SE find that search phrase has made up 50% of the words in the page it may think you have designed your page just for Search Engines attention and ignore it all together, but if the keyword density is to low you may find the SE's are giving other sites more relevant for the search... Its all a matter of trial and error.
